I think we have more “baked in” to the specialization bonus now. Not 100% sure as the images for the mastery are few and far between.
Moonfury is improved as it now gives 200% crit to all our damage spells as well as a 25% increase. Huge sigh of relief that I can now *see* that stated somewhere.
Moonkin form got a “increase damage from nature and arcane spells by 10%” which is kind of bland and goes against Blizzards stated aim of ‘removing straight damage increases from the talent trees’. I smell a band-aid solution.
Now if I was making changes to balance I’d do something like this:
Starsurge – as is can’t really comment on something I’ve never tried but on paper it looks sweet
Celestial focus: complete rework to make it provide the 100% spirit to hit conversion. Allowing us to put points in or out of Balance of Power to aid in managing hit
Moonfury: no change but keep the 200% crit
Dreamstate: Regenerate mana equal to 10% of your Intellect every 5 sec, even while casting. again no change. I’m not sure how good this is at end game, given I haven’t actually bothered to take it since erm around level 70 as intensity was better when I needed the regen but its a solid background ‘talent’ that I don’t mind having if its ‘free’.
So yes now you’re panicing about pushback as I took it out of Celestial focus. Fear not because the other thing I’d do is remove Owlkin frenzy as a separate talent and bake it into moonkin form rather than the meh +10% damge
So the tooltip would read something like:
- While in this form the armor contribution from items is increased by 120%,
- You are immune to pushback while casting Balance spells,
- All party and raid members within 100 yards have their spell critical chance increased by 5%.
- Attacks done to you while in Moonkin form have a 15% chance to cause you to go into a Frenzy, increasing your damage by 10%,
- The Moonkin can not cast healing or resurrection spells while shapeshifted.
- The act of shapeshifting frees the caster of Polymorph and Movement Impairing effects.
Yes I still want my crit buff back thank you
It gives you a reason to go into the form for the pushback protection and increased damage, but still allows you not to overly gimp your damage if you want to play in ‘caster form’
Of course that leaves the tree a bit ‘light’ on talents so I’d bring back a modified
Wrath of Cenarius: 3/3 You have an XX% chance of an insect swarm crit to cause wrath to be instant cast for the next X seconds
Yes I’ve ‘borrowed’ it from Wrath of Stormrage’ but with the right numbers so its up about say 75% of the time – as long as you have IS on a target it should give us a second instant nuke for movement fights while having next to no effect on tank and spank as the GCD will stop us from shooting off any more than we would without the buff being up. From what I’ve read moonfire is pretty lacklustre on the beta servers. It also gives us some synergy with our Dots, something we lost when improved insect swarm disappeared.
Even if Owlkin Frenzy was replaced with a new Wrath of Cenarius we’re still pretty light on talents. I struggle to find 31 I want in the beta builds, and the cookie cutter at 85 is fairly obvious take everything but Genesis and Moonglow. We need some *fun* stuff put back in to the lower tiers. So I want:
Blackthorn: surrounds the target in thorns, every time it is hit with a direct damage spell one thorn drives into them causing 447 (at level 85) damage. Lasts for 20 seconds has a 60 sec cooldown. Might as well have a version of thorns that works with balance druids dps role rather than against it.
Well maybe not but I want something fun and interesting and designed for balance druids to go ‘ooh yes please’ rather than ferals or restos.
