Hit and Miss

The update post was getting a bit long so doing this as a seperate post.

The latest beta build was released earlier this week (12604) with revised talents for druids. It’s better, which isn’t hard considering how poor the earlier one was.

I let off  reviewing it because everything seemed bleh last week (not WoW related work related) and I didn’t want that blehness to colour the revised talents.

It looks like Blizzard have decided Moonkin is the third tier talent and starsurge the  ‘primary skill which pleases me.

Lunar Justice When you kill a target that yields experience or honor, a ray of moonlight will shine underneath the fallen enemy instantly restoring 6% of your base mana to you or the first ally who stands undearneath it. Lunar Justice lasts for 15 sec.

The talent to give  mana to enhancement shaman and ret or prot paladins has gone away. I rather hope that completely reworked so it gives me back mana that it comes back, after all as things stand we’re losing the 2% mana return from critical strikes while in moonkin form. Although Euphoria probably compensates for that.

Okay I hope it comes back because I rather like that balance druids are moving away from nature spells and ‘specialising’ in lunar power. Ties in more with the whole  creatures of Elune lore. It would be too much to ask that we had our own spell schools but maybe just maybe Blizz could rename Natures Wrath to Elunes Wrath (or Lunar wrath for the non-believer races).  Rename Typhoon erm Lunar Tide etc etc.

One thing I don’t like in its current incarnation is Balance of Power

Increases your chance to hit with spells by 4% and increases your spell hit rating by an additional amount equal to 100% of your Spirit.

Now don’t get me wrong hit is important I just don’t like that it is tied to the spirit conversion as well. I’d rather hoped to be able to manage my hit by removing points from Balance of Power if I was wearing too much spirit gear. I currently have about 500 spirit, way above any cap I might need. The 4% from BoP was always enough for leveling. (Which is a good thing as very little gear has hit on it before you reach raid level).

The spirit to hit conversion is also one of the boring passive things we’re having dumped on us because Blizz won’t make the leather gear we need and have caved to the QQ of clothies. We shouldn’t have to talent to get it. I’d rather see it baked in with the primary skills, even if it means Elemental Shamans and Balance druids get 4 ‘primary skills’ rather than the three that’s being touted as the norm. We all know this spirit to hit conversion is a band aid not something exciting or even something we’ve asked for. In fact its the opposite of what we’ve been asking for; gear designed for our spec not restos.

I’m aware we might be able to convert spirit to some other stat to reduce it below any cap, but that’s still a *might* and it means the gear then becomes useless if I need to step up and spec resto to heal.  I’d hoped to get away from having to carry a complete set of resto gear. Currently I don’t as I can mix and match as can resto/balance dual specs.
