Friday Five

Over at Too Many Anna’s they’ve posted a Friday Five RP style for WoW. I was always a sucker for these. So time to give it a go

Got rather long with all of the Windsong sisters being done so carry on after the cut

What is your character’s name?

Arianthorn Gweneira Windsong of Clan Nightwing

Why did he/she pick his/her class?

As a child she found and befriended the Great Cat Spirit of Moonglade, but her path was set on following her mother as a Sentinel. During the War of the Shifting Sands she finally saw druids in action and knew that it was her true vocation. With her mother’s blessing she started to learn the way of the druid under Loganaar . Proving an apt pupil.

When her father next awakened from his druid slumber he was less than pleased. He firmly believed that druidry was a male vocation. He has over the centuries come to terms with it.

What’s the worst trouble he/she ever got into as a child?

On a dare from her sister she explored Owl Wing Thicket, in Winterspring. Though the owlbeasts weren’t crazed the area was generally avoided as they were diligent in guarding the sacred sites from intruders.

Sensing her youth and lack of any ill-intent the Owlbeasts let her enter. They weren’t so keen to let her leave, doing her no harm but keeping her penned up in one of their caves and bringing her food and ‘toys’ possibly seeing her as an exotic pet.

They were not so welcoming of the Nightwing Sentinels sent to search for her after three days absence form Starfall village. Barring their way into the thicket. The Kaldorei were loathe to fight the Owlbeasts who were doing their sacred duty by preventing them access. Priestess’s of Elune were needed to mind control the owlbeasts long enough for for a small number of sentinels to race to the cave snatch Arian & then race out.

Arian and her sister (who had kept quiet about Arian’s whereabouts for three days) found themselves spending the next three months shuttling between the kitchens of the Sentinels and the laundries of the temple in Nighthaven repaying their ‘debt’ to both groups.

What is his/her favorite thing to eat?

Although a Master Cook (those three months of kitchen duty taught her more than just the cost of wasting Sentinels time) Arian has no favourite food. She is however very partial to a flagon of mead to help wash her evening meal down.

What does he/she have in his/her pockets?

Nothing. Her clothes tend to be pocketless, she does have a small custom made pouch that she wears on her belt containing her hearthstone, a fipple flute, enough silver to get through the day, and a very old string of spirit beads given her by the Owlbeasts

This is my soon to be DK so still a bit sketchy

What is your character’s name?

Nariathorn Eirawen Windsong of Clan Nightwing

Why did he/she pick his/her class?

Like Arian Naria was set on becoming a Sentinel so picked up the bow at an early age. Unlike Arian she never wavered and shortly after the destruction of Mount Hyjal was invited to join the Warden ranks. She accompanied Maiev on the pursuit of Illidan Stormrage and disappeared, presumed dead.

What’s the worst trouble he/she ever got into as a child?

Though only a ‘partner in crime’ in the Great Owl Wing Thicket incidence it would probably count as the most trouble she ever got into. Arain & Naria’s mother discovered at an early age that making the twins share in each other punishments meant that they usually talked themselves out of most obvious mischief and disobedience

What is his/her favorite thing to eat?

Kimchi. Any dish with kimchi a traditional Kaldorei side dish. ( Kimchi is Korean really not Kaldorei, but it’s a Kaldorei dish in WoW)

What does he/she have in his/her pockets?

currently not known

What is your character’s name?

Runethorn Briallen Windsong

Why did he/she pick his/her class?

Runethorn was a quiet introspective child more interested in lore and learning than bows and fighting. Her mother quietly despaired of her ever being able to match up to her sisters and diplomatically guided her to the gentler healing arts of her people, where she wouldn’t feel herself constantly in competition with them. This lead Runethorn to the priesthood

What’s the worst trouble he/she ever got into as a child?

Rune didn’t really get into trouble, she’d occasionally be scolded for returning late from trips to find herbs or spending too much time indoors reading but nothing to compare with her sisters.

What is his/her favorite thing to eat?

Rune is a vegetarian, she does have a sweet tooth and loves soft banana bread and the seasonal candies. She also knows how to cook all the kimchi dishes, but that was more for Naria than her own liking for the dish

What does he/she have in his/her pockets?

A small notebook that’s filled with notes of new recipes (both alchemy & cooking), odd scraps of lore, recent letters from her sisters, current Auction House prices and even hastily scribbled overheard conversations. As the unofficial lore keeper for the family this will eventually all be written up in her journal.

What is your character’s name?

Briarthorn Olwen Windsong

Why did he/she pick his/her class?

With three elder sisters and a mother with thousands of years of experience watching over young sentinels opting for the one vocation that made her effectively invisible seemed like a good idea.

What’s the worst trouble he/she ever got into as a child?

So many things to choose from. Where Arian & Naria had each other to keep themselves relatively trouble free, and Rune her reflective personality. Briar seemed to have a double dose of trouble gene.

She was charming enough that stints in the Sentinel kitchen usually meant sitting on a stool chatting while others did the chores she was meant to be doing.

There was one piece of trouble she couldn’t charm her way out off though. She knew Arian had a special place she went to when angry or frustrated, somewhere to calm down. Somewhere she had been told repeatedly to ‘mind her own business’ about.

Deciding it was her own business she decided to follow Arian the next time she stormed off. Too young to ride a nighsaber herself she carefully stuck a silverleaf to the hind paw of Arian’s mount to make tracking easier and followed at a safe distance.

The tracks led her to a small clearing off the road leading to the Stormrage Barrow Dens. Arian was no where to be seen, well not with the quick glance Briar spared the area before all her attention was drawn towards the massive ebon nightsaber pacing the grove.

To this day Briar doesn’t seem able to explain what possessed her but she found herself running and making a flying jump off a mound aiming to land on the cats back. She succeeded and grabbed at the fur between the Spirits shoulders to help maintain her seat. The cat let out a massive roar. Almost at the same instant she caught sight of her sister coming out of stealth and launching herself off the ground to bodyslam against her, knocking her off her perch and to the floor. Pinning her down and growling menacingly.

“Don’t you hurt me. I’ll tell mother!” she screamed, completley unerved by the cold fury she could see in Arian’s eyes. Arian shifted back to Kaldorei form, still keeping her sister pinned down

“I won’t have to you idiot. You don’t think every druid in Nighthaven didn’t hear the the Great Spirit roar? Look around you.”

Briar soon discovered that the wardens of Stormrage Barrows weren’t as easy to charm as Sentinels, and that grumpy old bears awakening from hibernation didn’t care that their breath was rank as they demanded water and food.

Arian hasn’t forgotten though and the incidence is at the root of their uneasy strained relationship.

What is his/her favorite thing to eat?

Anything someone else has cooked. She’s far from fussy though she’ll usually pass on Kimchi having had it served at too many meals when she was young

What does he/she have in his/her pockets?

The one thing you can guarantee to find is a toothbrush and toothpaste. Her lockpicking tools and an assortment of ‘shinies’ she’ll have picked up from the ground in her travels. She has a  footlocker full of shells, coloured stones, oddly shaped bits of wire that one day when she has a permanent home she’ll use to cover every surface available.
